Program Summary

(Transferable to an Associate's Degree in Health Information Management at SPC) This program is designed to prepare students for employment as entry level Data Management Specialists or to provide supplemental training for persons previously or currently employed in related health record or information technology occupations.

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will develop knowledge and skills at the recall, application, and analysis levels in the content area of the Organizational and Technological Environments.
  2. Students will develop knowledge and skills at the recall, application, and analysis levels in the content area of System Analysis, Design, Selection, Implementation, Support, Maintenance, Testing and Evaluation.
  3. Students will develop knowledge and skills at the recall, application, and analysis levels in the content area of Privacy and Security.
  4. Students will develop knowledge and skills at the recall, application, and analysis levels in the content area of Leadership and Management Support.

Graduation Requirements

In order to enroll in any program course with a prerequisite, a grade of ā€œCā€ or better must have been earned in all prerequisite courses. Students must earn grades of ā€œCā€ or better in all courses required for the Data Management CT curriculum in order to graduate from the program.

New graduates from the Data Management Certificate program are advised to take the Certified Associate Healthcare in Healthcare Information & Management Systems (CAHIMS) examination administered by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).
