Course Description
This course will give the student an overview of business subjects that will be applicable in any business environment but with particular emphasis in veterinary medicine.
Learning Outcomes and Objectives
- The student will demonstrate knowledge of the basic principles and processes of management as they relate to veterinary facilities by:
- applying management principles and practices to current veterinary practice concerns.
- demonstrating effective communication skills in oral and/or written form.
- The student will demonstrate the ability to apply a systematic method for making ethical decisions in a veterinary situation using critical thinking by:
- analyzing an ethical dilemma in a veterinary setting.
- identifying key veterinary practice values.
- The student will demonstrate the ability to apply managerial theories to veterinary workplace issues by:
- examining foundation principles of management and human resources in veterinary practice management.
- discussing legal and ethical considerations affecting veterinary workplaces.
Criteria Performance Standard
Upon successful completion of the course the student will, with a minimum of 70% accuracy, demonstrate mastery of each of the above stated objectives through classroom measures developed by individual course instructors.
