- performing a focused health assessment on a patient with a multi-system or emergent health condition.
- maintaining a safe environment for a patient with a multi-system or emergent health condition.
- illustrating how they incorporated the QSEN (Quality and Safety Education for Nurses) competencies in the care of their patient.
- The student will collaborate with the interprofessional health care team to ensure safe and effective care of patients with advanced complex health conditions across the lifespan by:
- demonstrating SBAR (situation, background, assessment, recommendation) communication when speaking with members of the healthcare team.
- implementing IPASS the BATON (introduction, patient, assessment, situation, safety, background, actions, timing, ownership, next) communication when giving nurse to nurse report.
- maintaining effective and timely communication with all members of the healthcare team.
- The student will demonstrate safe and appropriate evidence-based clinical judgement skills while caring for patients with advanced complex health conditions across the lifespan by:
- identifying patient cues in patients with multi-system or emergent health conditions.
- analyzing patient cues in patients with multi-system or emergent health conditions.
- prioritizing hypotheses and generating solutions in patients with multi-system or emergent health conditions.
- implementing interventions in a timely manner, in patients with multi-system or emergent health conditions.
- evaluating outcomes in patients with multi-system or emergent health conditions.
- The student will demonstrate the legal standards and ethical principles of professional nursing while caring for patients with advanced complex health conditions across the lifespan by:
- illustrating the use of key concepts of the Florida nurse Practice Act, in the critically ill patient.
- describing the ethical principles of nursing related to caring for patients with multi-system or emergent health conditions.
Criteria Performance Standard
