Course Description

This course covers a wide range of topics as they relate to security architecture. Topics include the design, development, and integration of security into system architecture solutions. In this course students will examine the different layers of security architecture, analyze security architecture strategies, and apply policies and standards to security architecture.

Learning Outcomes and Objectives

  1. The student will examine the different layers of security architecture by:
    1. Identifying the three components of security architecture including technology, people, and processes.
    2. Outlining the use of multiple components to protect operations on multiple levels or layers.
    3. Describing the practice of combining multiple mitigating security controls to protect resources and data.
  2. The student will apply security architecture policies and standards to organizational objectives by:
    1. Listing security architecture policies and standards.
    2. Creating a security architecture design document.
  3. The student will analyze security architecture strategies by:
    1. Discussing how the security architecture is designed in a manner that reduces risk to an organization.
    2. Exploring security risks that need to be managed to support an organization's path.

Criteria Performance Standard

Upon successful completion of this course the student will demonstrate, with minimum 70% accuracy, mastery of each of the above stated objectives through classroom measures developed by the individual course instructors.
