Course Description
This course examines the operations of a human services agency and its management, including the role of strategic planning and governance, clinical and non-clinical support services related to human services programs, quality improvement, fiscal operations, and information technology of the organizational structure.
Learning Outcomes and Objectives
- Students will examine various organizational management and leadership theories in human services administration by:
- Evaluating various management roles and styles in leadership and supervision as related to human services administration
- Identifying leadership qualities that facilitate inclusive and equitable organizational structures and processes
- Discussing theory and using terminology relevant to organizational systems in human services
- Students will explore basic concepts and functions of human services administration related to human services programs and agencies by:
- Analyzing community relations, partnership collaborations, and governance as related to human services administration
- Examining program planning and evaluation of human services programs
- Students will apply strategies to manage the internal financial controls, including financial planning, budgeting, fiscal operations, and management of a human services agency by:
- Demonstrating skills in strategic planning management related to human services administration
- Developing long-range planning of budget management within human services agencies
- Students will examine social issues in human services administration by:
- Exploring best practices to evaluate relevant technologies in human service administration delivery
- Analyzing data trends for attracting and hiring qualified employees in human services occupations
- Identifying and discussing funding opportunities through non-profit, federal governmental agencies, state governmental agencies, and charitable organizations as related to human services administration
Criteria Performance Standard
For successful completion of this course, the student will receive a minimum of 70% accuracy, demonstrate mastery of the objectives and measures developed by the course instructors.
