Course Description

This course requires attendance and participation in student recitals. Students will attend a workshop in recital etiquette and protocols. (Note: Students will participate in performance classes in their respective performing area at least once prior to scheduled recitals. Students will be required to attend all and perform in one of four or five scheduled music recitals each session.)

Learning Outcomes and Objectives

  1. The student will learn proper recital performance etiquette by:
    1. performing in front of classmates in the same performing media.
    2. receiving corrective instructions on proper behavior at public recitals as needed.
  2. The student will understand solo literature for each performing area by:
    1. attending recitals of other students.
    2. hearing performances of standard literature for each of the instruments
  3. The student will gain experience in the art of publicly performing music in the area of their greatest strength by:
    1. performing in front of the collected group of music majors in one recital per session.
    2. having a sequence of performance experiences from session to session (up to four) until they graduate or move on to another school.

Criteria Performance Standard

Upon successful completion of the course the student will, with a 70% accuracy level of performance, have participated in recitals.
