Course Description
This course is a laboratory study of the anatomy of the human face with emphasis on developing the skills and procedures used in restorative art.
Learning Outcomes and Objectives
- The student will relate specific types of restoration to the correct embalming procedure by:
- performing case analysis.
- identifying pre-, concurrent, and post-embalming restorative art treatments.
- explaining embalming procedures used for restoration of a specific case.
- explaining the legal and moral considerations of restorative art procedures.
- The student will exhibit a skill in modeling which reflects the student's ability to restore a problem case by:
- demonstrating modeling facial features for the:
- nose
- mouth
- ears
- eyes
- complete face
- interpreting a photograph by evaluating highlights and shadows, equal and unequal facial proportions, forms of the face, and chief characteristics of each feature.
- applying knowledge of theories and procedures in modeling facial features.
- The student will apply knowledge of the use of various cosmetics, restorative treatments, materials, and equipment in restorative art by:
- identifying the materials and steps used for restoration of traumatic injuries.
- demonstrating cosmetic application to recreate natural color.
- identifying cosmetics necessary to match skin color.
- explaining ornamental cosmetics.
Criteria Performance Standard
Upon successful completion of the course the student will, with a minimum of 75% accuracy, demonstrate mastery of each of the above stated objectives through laboratory measures developed by individual course instructors.
