Program Summary

Fully transferable to Bachelor’s Degree at SPC or to any state university in Florida. Program begins in August and January with a traditional, LPN-RN and evening/weekend track.

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Apply clinical reasoning consistent with the novice registered nurse within contemporary health care environments.
  2. Demonstrate evidence-based knowledge to provide safe and quality care.
  3. Utilize communication and collaboration strategies with clients, their support systems, and members of the multidisciplinary health care team.
  4. Assimilate the role of a novice registered nurse through exhibiting the core values of the profession of nursing.

Graduation Requirements

Minimum grade of "C" required in all courses. Any student who makes a grade of less than “C” in a course in the nursing program that is a prerequisite to a nursing course will be ineligible to continue in the nursing program. Likewise, the clinical component of any nursing rotation must be satisfactorily passed. An overall 2.0 average is required to enroll in sophomore nursing courses. Credit must be earned in or prior to the prescribed sequence.

AS GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS - Communications - Composition- Core
 
Complete 3 credits from the approved General Education Composition I coursework. Minimum grade of "C" required. This requirement must be completed within the first 24 credits of coursework toward the AS degree.
 
AS GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS - Humanities and Fine Arts-Core
 
Complete 3 credits from the approved General Education Humanities and Fine Arts coursework. Minimum grade of "C" required.
 
AS GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS - Computer/Information Literacy Competency
 
Competency may be demonstrated by completing the Computer Information and Literacy Exam (CGS 1070T) OR by successful completion of one of the approved Computer/Information Literacy Competency courses. No minimum credits required.
 
AS GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS - Enhanced World View
 

Complete at least one 3-credit course from the approved General Education Enhanced Worldview course list. This requirement is intended to enhance the student's world view in light of an increasingly globalized economy. Minimum grade of "C" required.  In some cases, this course may also be used to satisfy another General Education Requirement.

 
AS GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS - Civic Literacy

Competency may be demonstrated by completing at least one course from the approved General Education Civic Literacy coursework below (minimum grade of "C" required) AND satisfactory completion of an assessment (exam). Students completing AMH 2010 or AMH 2010H in Fall 2024 or thereafter will satisfy the Civic Literacy course requirement.  This requirement is in compliance with Rule 6A-10.02413 of the Florida Administrative Code.
