Program Summary

This program is offered as a Fully Online program. The Veterinary Technology (VETTC-BAS) program provides a terminal degree opportunity for veterinary technicians. This program offers specialized tracks in clinical techniques and hospital management and is designed to build on the technical skills acquired in the AS Veterinary Technology program. The curriculum provides in-depth knowledge in subject areas critical for veterinary technicians to be highly capable and contributing members of the profession.

Program Learning Outcomes
  1. Interpret veterinary research, pharmacological documents, and hospital safety protocols.
  2. Identify distinctions between the veterinary technology profession in other countries and the profession in the United States.
  3. Serve as a change agent in the veterinary technology profession by applying critical thinking skills.
  4. Distinguish between leadership in patient care and supporting patient care through the synthesis of veterinary nursing plans.
  5. Communicate effectively as a veterinary professional in oral and written form.
  6. Solve practice management concerns through the application of content knowledge and demonstrating leadership.

Bachelor’s Degree Admission Guides outline criteria specific to each program, including course requirements, GPA and the application process.

Graduation Requirements

All courses must be completed with a minimum grade of "C".

GENERAL EDUCATION: All students must complete the 36 credit general education requirement in order to graduate from this program. A.S. degree holders may need to complete an additional 15-21 general education credits to complete the thirty-six (36) credit hour general education requirement.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE: If you have not completed two consecutive years of the same foreign language in high school or 8 credits in college, you will need to complete 8 credits of foreign language before completing the B.A.S. program.

CIVIC LITERACY: As per Florida Rule 6A-10.04213, baccalaureate degree students entering a Florida College System (FCS) or State University System (SUS) institution in the 2021-2022 academic school year and thereafter must demonstrate competency through successful completion of a civic literacy course AND by achieving a passing score on the Florida Civic Literacy Examination (FCLE).
