Course Description
This course requires a teacher candidate to demonstrate competency on four Florida Educator Accomplished Practices (FEAPs) during ten weeks of full-day internship in a prekindergarten through twelfth grade (P-12) setting.
Learning Outcomes and Objectives
- Teacher candidates will manage a student-centered learning environment by:
- creating a positive environment for all students.
- employing proactive classroom management strategies to address student behavior.
- establishing procedures and routines that enable smooth transitions throughout the lesson.
- Teacher candidates will implement the use of technology in the P-12 setting by:
- identifying current and emerging assistive technologies to meet student learning needs.
- utilizing appropriate technology tools to help organize and integrate assessment data.
- employing technology-based communication strategies to build connections between school, home, and community.
- Teacher candidates will reflect on their teaching effectiveness and their impact on student learning by:
- engaging in self-reflection to determine the impact of their teaching strategies.
- examining evidence from classroom observations, student work, and/or assessments.
- demonstrating changes in instruction based on clinical feedback provided.
- Teacher candidates will develop effective assessment strategies in their assigned P-12 setting by:
- identifying essential concepts and skills that need to be assessed in a lesson.
- designing assessments that align to the state standards and stated learning objectives.
- analyzing data to inform instruction and meet the needs of all students.
- synthesizing data to identify trends in student learning.
- Teacher candidates will incorporate the principles of differentiated instruction through their lesson plans and delivery by:
- designing lesson plans that incorporate differentiated instruction techniques to address individual student needs.
- applying principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to create accessible learning environments.
- demonstrating sensitivity and responsiveness to individual student needs.
- adapting instructional materials, activities, and assessments to meet the needs of all learners.
- differentiating instruction within their content area to meet the individualized needs of all learners.
- Teacher candidates will model professional and ethical responsibility and continuous professional improvement by:
- developing professional goals to strengthen the effectiveness of instruction on students’ needs.
- applying skills and knowledge from professional development opportunities to the teaching and learning process.
- researching professional organizations and external professional development opportunities.
- demonstrating adherence to the Florida Code of Ethics and the Principles of Professional Conduct for the Education Profession.
Criteria Performance Standard
Upon successful completion of the course the student will, with a minimum of 75% accuracy, demonstrate mastery of each of the above stated objectives through classroom measures developed by individual course instructors.
