Course Description
This course prepares educators to integrate technology into the classroom. Emphasis is on the use of current technology tools to facilitate teaching, learning, and assessment.
Learning Outcomes and Objectives
- The educator will examine innovative and engaging teaching tools to facilitate content delivery by:
- identifying emerging technology tools that improve learner communication and engagement.
- describing methods for learners to engage with content in immersive virtual environments.
- analyzing data gathered from learning and educational systems to improve future instruction.
- The educator will investigate emerging technology tools to facilitate learning by:
- identifying current technology tools that foster formal and informal technology based learning.
- describing technology that supports learning using social media and mobile learning devices.
- designing innovative learning games and simulations for both individual and groups that solve real-world problems.
- The educator will examine current technology tools that facilitate assessment by:
- identifying technology tools that can be used for formative and summative assessment and tracking learner progress.
- identifying digital tools that assist in measuring learning and analyzing instructional data.
- describing the importance of integrated learning and assessment systems.
- evaluating current research and professional practices that make effective use of existing and emerging technology tools.
Criteria Performance Standard
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will, with a minimum of 75% accuracy, demonstrate mastery of each of the above stated objectives through classroom measures developed by individual course instructors.
