This is a digital media course designed to introduce the essentials of Motion Graphics, multimedia animation, video, digital media and the web. Students will be exposed to the new upgrades and fundamentals of motion graphics and digital techniques that include text, images, audio, and animation. Students will identify production methods for compositing basic motion control for high-quality, two-dimensional animation. Students will learn how to manipulate text, produce simple animations, and incorporate audio. Students will develop the skills necessary in animation, and essential visual production technology. They will learn to combine and integrate with other programs and have the components to save and publish to the Web and create web sites.
Learning Outcomes and Objectives
The student will demonstrate an understanding of Motion Graphics terminology and production methodologies by:
producing individual projects and maintaining a working log.
explaining the theory of Motion Graphic multimedia.
applying appropriate language and terminology.
identifying and correctly using Motion Graphics and its functions including the toolbar, palettes, keyframes, parenting, importing, layers and timeline.
evaluating work in their field, including their own work, using professional terminology.
communicating their ideas professionally and connecting with their intended audience using visual, oral, and written presentation skills relevant to motion graphics.
solving creative problems within their field of motion graphics, including research and synthesis of technical, aesthetic, and conceptual knowledge.
The student will demonstrate competence in handling and using software and various methods of gathering source material by:
producing individual projects and maintaining a working log.
designing interactive advertisements and creating rich media content.
utilizing the illustration and tool palettes.
using compositing, rendering and visual effects in the design process.
learning the professional skills and behaviors necessary to compete in the global marketplace for motion graphics.
importing and converting bitmaps and vectors.
executing technical, aesthetic, and conceptual decisions based on an understanding of motion graphics and design principles.
The student will apply design and production techniques that will provide a firm understanding of the Motion Graphic production process by:
creating animations and animating text.
rendering and outputting.
incorporating audio into a Motion Graphic presentation.
designing, producing and exporting motion graphics.
animating layers and multimedia presentations.
