Working within a digital format, students explore design principles and develop techniques unique to computer graphics applications. Students will become familiar with the creative process and establish an appreciation for design aesthetic as it applies in a digital medium.

The student will differentiate the characteristics of design and digital image manipulation by:
Defining the basic elements of design.
Performing image manipulation.
Analyzing current trends in online and print publications.
The student will employ concepts in composition and layout by:
Applying techniques of design, layout, image manipulation and typography in assigned projects.
Developing grid structures, creating typography, and utilizing color theory.
Conducting peer evaluations of projects and collaborating to improve class-wide assignments.
The student will use computer graphics and digital photographs effectively in a design by:
Demonstrating the effective use of design and image manipulation software.
Applying techniques used in digital media, design, and image manipulation.
Creating professional quality components used within the digital and print industry.
Criteria Performance Standard
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will, with a minimum of 70% accuracy, demonstrate mastery of
each of the above stated objectives through classroom measures developed by individual course instructors.
