Course Description
This course examines program development and program implementation within the workplace and community. The student will identify various program theories and their importance within program development. The student examines the value of collaboration between teams and stakeholders to implement effective organizational and community-driven programs.
Learning Outcomes and Objectives
- The student will examine different approaches to program planning and development by:
- describing various theories of program planning.
- defining non-rational programs.
- defining rational programs.
- The student will examine different approaches to planning and development by:
- describing various planning methodoligies.
- outlining a program utilizing a logic model or flow chart.
- The student will analyze the importance of critical thinking in program planning by:
- identifying the need for an ethical process in program planning.
- identifying the value of building a relationship of trust and respect with stakeholders.
- examining the importance of understanding different cultures.
- The student will evaluate a long-standing public program, for example the United States Social Security Program, by:
- relating the rationale behind the development of the program.
- classifying the steps taken to implement the program.
- analyzing the impact of Social Security reform legislation.
- analyzing the current effectiveness and sustainability of the program.
Criteria Performance Standard
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will, with a minimum of 70% accuracy, demonstrate mastery of each of the above stated objectives through classroom measures developed by individual course instructors.
