Course Description
This course is for the reinforcement and application of laboratory procedures and principles taught in Animal Laboratory Procedures.
Learning Outcomes and Objectives
- The student will relate the skills used in caring for laboratory equipment by employing proper maintenance and calibration procedures for laboratory equipment.
- The student will apply the skills needed to operate common veterinary instruments and microscopes
- The student will apply commonly used laboratory procedures for evaluation in the areas of parasitology, hematology, and urinalysis by:
- performing common intestinal parasite evaluations.
- performing complete blood counts.
- performing complete urinalysis including gross, chemical and microscopic examination.
Criteria Performance Standard
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will, with minimum 70% accuracy, demonstrate mastery of each of the above stated objectives through classroom measures developed by the individual course instructors.
